Molasses Spice Bars

I'm trying to get away from only baking with chocolate and peanut butter and M&Ms. Yeah, I'm not sure why I would do that, either. However! That is what I'm doing. I'm "trying new things" and "branching out," "moving out of my comfort zone." I don't know, man.

Wow. That looks a little bit disgusting, but really delicious at the same time... Yeah, because that makes a whole lot of sense. Just roll with me here, people; I'm clearly losing my mind. Not that I had much of one before but I'm really tired right now and my brain is just going hwioevjaleije. Ya feel me?

A few days ago, I was really tired after working all day and when I came home, I was trying to tell my family something about a thermos but I said thermostat and I couldn't think of the right word, but I knew "thermo" was part of it. Needless to say, I sounded like an idiot, my family made fun of me, I got mad, went upstairs and immediately fell asleep in my bed because it's the dead of winter and it was already dark out even though it was not late at all.

My bed is super warm and comfortable and cozy. Seriously, if I could hibernate I would. I truly envy bears. They get to just sleep and be fat for an entire season. Who wouldn't want to be part of something so grand?

Oh yeah! That's totally why I wanted to make something with spices. Warm and cozy spices for cold and frosty months! Ahhh, how the pieces of the puzzle are coming together. Glad we solved that mystery.

These bars are totally warm and cozy. They would go really well with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream, ironically enough. Oooh, a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of one of these spice bars, with a nice warm cup of coffee. For breakfast, lunch and dinner. And snack. And right now. And for the rest of ever. Okay maybe not, because you're trying to watch your figure so that come the skating show you don't feel completely terrible about yourself in whatever embarrassing costume they've picked out for you this year.

Because I know that I've convinced you to make these and eat them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a nice warm cup of coffee, this here is the fabulous recipe, except here's the thing. They are technically ginger bars, however, whenever I went to make them, I found that we did not have much ginger. Go figure. So I threw in some cinnamon, ginger, allspice and nutmeg to my heart's desire. I recommend you do the same. Or you can follow the recipe. Whatever floats your boat, dear.

Keep crazy, darlings!
