Trapping Some Zoids, Cake Style (Yellow Cake with Vanilla Frosting)

School is always better when the teachers encourage students to bring in food. Fiestas in Spanish, Pi Day in any math class, random English parties... Let's face it- these days are the only reason why we put up with going to school day after day, why we put up with the essays, the tests, the projects, having to sit next to that kid who mutters to himself the entire period...

Anyways, in my geometry class we are doing a group project on trapezoids and since my teacher was not at all opposed to bringing food in for our presentations, I thought that it would be best to make a cake and cut it to look like a trapezoid. You know those things... they are quadrilaterals with only one pair of parallel opposite sides. Or if you're a normal person, it's a rectangle with two sides pointed inward.

The recipe that follows is not my own. I took if from McCormick, where they use this base for their "Golden Cinnamon Cupcakes". I simply took out the cinnamon, added a different frosting and made a cake instead of cupcakes.

The Cake::

Ingredients:
1 box of regular yellow cake mix
1 box of instant vanilla pudding mix
1 cup of water
1 stick of butter
4 eggs
2 teaspoons of vanilla

Steps:
1. Put everything in a big bowl.
2. Mix everything in the big bowl using an electric mixer whilst trying not to make a huge mess so as to not get in trouble with your mother.
3. Pour batter into a 13 x 9 cake pan.
4. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about

The Frosting::

Ingredients:
2 sticks of butter
4 cups of powdered sugar
2 teaspoons of vanilla
3-4 tablespoons of water

Steps:
1. Once again, put everything in a bowl.
2. Mix the ingredients until smooth, with an electric mixer. This time you have to be way more careful about flinging it everywhere because of the powdered sugar.
*To spice things up a tad, just add a few drops of your favorite coloring
